These
are the words I live by (Click here)
Born and raised in San Fernando, Trinidad some
twenty one years ago. I grew up with varied interests and a strong
appreciation for much of what is today taken for granted. I recall my childhood days with
a fondness that is only now realized as an adult, and now with time and distance, I have
grown to fully appreciate the many hardships my family has endured to bring me to this
point.
When I left for the US in 1994, I was a
naive nineteen year old fresh out of Presentation College, looking for my place in the
world. I washed up on the shores of Howard University. I took easily enough to the
academic work, however, it took me some time to adjust to the American culture.
I live with my three roommates
Blaine,Dion, and Javaka. They are all Trini Med students at Howard U Coll. of Medicine. I
work in the Med school as an audio/visual Technician. I spend most of my time in the
Computer Lab, that's the reason you're reading this now. I am not a computer science major
and I haven't taken any computer classes, I learned HTML as a hobby. So far I designed a
few web pages,
including one for my department at work, and my Department at
school. What you see here is the product of someone who did not go home last Christmas. I
was stuck in DC for most of the holidays, apart from when I was liming, I needed something
to do. My girlfriend, however, did go home ...that explains the free time. Well enough of
my social life.
I'm a senior Clinical Laboratory Science
student, still an Undergrad. CLS is a dynamic profession and an excellent starting point
for a career as a Health Professional. I plan on going to either Medical or Dental school
when I graduate. I haven't decided on which avenue to pursue as I can think of excellent
reasons for both.
Well as I said before sit back, relax and
let these links take you where they may. Have fun.
Addendum. (05/98)
Well much time has past since I started
the socabus. I'm now twenty three, older and somewhat wiser. Here is a brief synopsis of
the major events in my life over the last two years or so.
I am finally Graduating with a Bachelor's
Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. I'm kinda sad to leave my Department as the
professors were extremely helpful and
pleasant. I'm staying at
Howard, as I've decided to become a Dentist. Yes, the great debate- Med or Dent has been
solved. I figure that Dentistry is more suited to my desired lifestyle (if I ever get out
of school).
Well as those of you who have visited my
site before may know I have a knack for this webdesign thingamajig. I started a company of
sorts last summer, ENVIVO DESIGNS is the name. I mainly do freelance web design for
academic departments and offices around the University. It is a great way to earn extra
cash and I have been pretty successful so far. If you need some web work done give
me a call. I work cheap.

Well here I am once again doing a complete overhaul of the ole Socabus. I'm on
Christmas break after a grueling semester. Somehow I thought Dental school would be
somewhat easier than it is. Otherwise, everything's just fine with me as good as they can
be :) I enjoy the work no matter how much I may bitch and moan. Drop me a line.

My freshman year in Dental school has just come to an end. Boy they really squeeze
all they can out of you at that school. It was really a challenge. I am spending the few
days I have off by redesigning my website. Those of you who have been with me through the
years would have seen the site evolve from barebones HTML to its present form. This
summer I will attempt several MCSE exams in an attempt to become certified in Microsoft
products. One can get only so far on looks. You know what I mean. :)

y2k has passed with little or no effect. I'm now a sophomore (suffer-more)
the Dental course is getting more interesting as we are now working on live
patients. I spent my Christmas/New year Holiday in Trinidad. It was the
best. Limin with my frien ds and catching up with family...
(05/00) I just celebrated my 25th birthday.
Damn 25 already... I'm in danger of becoming an old man. The event passed
quietly with no fanfare... I'm now a Junior in the dent. school... There
is an old saying that you spend the first two years of dental school
trying to get in and the last two years trying to get out.... that
certainly applies to me. I'm ready to move onto other challenges.
Until my next update..... Be good to yourself..
(05/12/02) Today I graduate from dental
school... its finally over .. 8 years of hard work..... it's
almost enough to bring one to tears.. but no .. I will drink instead and
celebrate..... :) orange juice can pack a mean punch. lol. My mom is
here to see me graduate... sadly my dad couldn't make it. I wish he did
.. this is as much his achievement as it is mine.
(07/02) I just moved to New York
City. It's a refreshing change from Washington DC. I start my residency in
Advanced general Dentistry at Columbia University School of Dentistry and
Oral Surgery. I look forward to the change of institutions... after being
at one place for too long I wanna try a different approach at things.
(01/03) Happy New Years folks... I just
returned from Trinidad... its been 2 years since my last visit... I
needed the sea sun and sand. |
